Let The Seller Beware - Not Just The Buyer
Some Estate Agents will strongly suggest to a Seller that he or
she use a particular firm of Solicitors or Legal Representatives
– sometimes in another part of the country. Most likely this
is as a result of a referral agreement between the Estate Agents
and the Solicitors or Legal Representatives. Sometimes the Solicitors
suggested by the Estate Agents are what may be called a factory
firm with non-solicitors handling the day to day running of a sale.
The fees may seem to be a little cheaper, but in the end it could
cost the Seller a lot more. Check the small print for additional
fees. In any event please be wary of using such firms.
At Scotts Holt & Sellars your sale and/or purchase will be
handled on a daily basis by an experienced Solicitor. Often we come
across a ‘chain’ which might collapse because an unqualified
or inexperienced case handler in a ‘factory firm’ is
running a sale or purchase somewhere in the chain.
We strongly advise all Sellers to instruct a firm of Solicitors
which has an experienced and capable Solicitor – we would
of course prefer you to instruct us, but it is your choice.
